Battery Bosch or AC DELCO

I will second a class 3 Bosch. I have one in a hilly city that absolutely rocks the steeps and has a great battery life. Going on 2 years strong and I've had zero battery issues. It rains a lot here but no problems with the Shimano drivetrain either, just regular maintenance.

AC Delco was good.. lasted 2 years in my old car

I started buying AC Delco, probably now made in Korea. Anyway, 9 years in my Kia Spectra, 7 years in our rarely driven ‘02 Accord, has another in there from a year or two ago. One that was in my wrecked Cobalt, still works but is sitting. Now one for the Cavalier that had a two year old premium Everstart. The place I get the AC Delco batteries from sells a lot of them so they refresh their inventory. And they are also cheap with my business account. Was $120 for the last one, got the better option they offer. But most have been under $90. Although prices have gone up everywhere throughout various product. Just saying, for whatever reason they have been the only ones I didn’t have to warranty out every 2-3 years. Maybe I’m just getting lucky with them for the last 12-13 years. But I got tired of SuperStart and Everstart batteries that I used to go for. Duracell had been good in customer vehicles.

My rec would be to find somewhere that sells AC Delco Gold batteries, that's what I use at my shop and they usually have a very good 42mo free replacement warranty and they're great batteries. As long as you don't buy walmarts brand, you're good. I've replaced like 8 Walmart batteries that were less than 6mo old in the last two weeks. No idea wtf those guys are doing.

Priced about 3.5k retail, it's an absolute dream to ride. Quiet, huge battery (bosch power tube 800)

Longest battery I had was from AC delco, lasted 10y! But apparently they are different now.

The mechanic I go to gives me Bosch and they last around 2 years if not more. But then they do die within a day when they do.

Bosch - 2.5 years so far,

Varta - 1.3 years before dying

After 7 sets of battery drains, I installed a new set and left it on a shelf untouched for a week. Turned on and dead. Made a warranty claim with Bosch to which their lazy troubleshooting reply:  

Let me start by apologizing on behalf of BOSCH for any inconvenience this has caused you. I performed a complete inspection: I 1st charged up your lithium battery. I then calibrated & tested unit with both alkaline & lithium batteries: PASSED.   I know it’s an inconvience. But:  Leaving any batteries in unit when not in use: ( Unit will drain all battery types )—( Unit self discharges batteries when not in use ) --That is why Bosch put in manual tom remove batteries. PG# 21—Attached – ( they actually don’t say how long the “ extended period is “) That way it is not considerd a factory defect. Other than that: unit is operating to all Manufacurers Specification & Tolerances.   Best regards, 

-Well I'm never buying another Bosch product again with customer service like that. Pissed that I bought this expensive paperweight. What product in today's world drains batteries when not in use?  Clearly flawed engineering they are hiding and do not value the end users. A recall is in order.

I switched to Bosch after that. that failed after 2.5 years, just under warranty. so it can happen with any company. some batches might have good quality some do not.
