Battery OPTIMA or AC DELCO
I’ve had an AC Delco marine battery in my 67 Jeep that soldiered on for 12 years, and an “Autocraft” battery in my parent’s car that has finally given up after seven.
On my 2014 Leaf SV I put in an Optima Yellowtop and it lasted over 7 years.
I have a 10 year old yellow top Optima (not even the nicest thing out there) that starts a 440 (often 9 months between starts) every time. I haven't even put a tender on it in the last 5 years.
I bought my last battery from Menards. They sell AC Delco batteries. They come with a full non prorated 3 year warranty at least they did last year
Optima yellow top. It's around $300 ish. The last one was replaced after a decade. The new one I have will probably be the last one.
AC Delco was good.. lasted 2 years in my old car
Optima seems to be the only brand of cylindrical Pb batteries for automotive use... pretty much every other automotive Pb battery is prismatic.
That's the first I've seen one fail this way.
DO NOT buy a red top Optima. They haven't been good or worth the price in like 15 yrs.
Those Optima Red, Yellow and Blue tops used to be the cat's ass 20 years ago, but quality has fallen off big time in recent years
Worst batteries I've ever had the misfortune to buy. Both died within the space of 3 months and wouldn't put out any power whatsoever. No matter if I tried to charge them, it made no difference.
