If your interval is 30,000km / 20k mi (2Y) then you should use the higher spec VW 503 / 504 (left page) if you have the 15,000km / 10k mi (1Y) interval then you can use the lower grade VW 501 / 502 oil on the right page.
Reviews of spare parts for Skoda Octavia
The OE part made by Hella (so the company skoda contracted to make the genuine part) was €240!
On my mk2 I used Liquimoly, Ravenol and now Castrol. No issues with any of them. I switched to Castrol because Liquimoly became a bit too expensive this year.
Hey! I had two Octavias with the 1.6 TDI: the mk2 (I sold it) and the mk3 (the current one). Personally, I prefer Castrol Edge 5W-30. On the mk2 I once used Ravenol and the engine was a bit noisier compared to when I used Castrol.
On the other side, cheaper oil and very good spec. overall i see in Total Ineo Long Life Xtra 0W20 in VW 509 specification area, which is also written in my service book for high efficiency oils.
I used to have castrol but since i chiptuned my octavia i switched to ravenol and the oil temps went down a good bit and it doesnt use any oil but that could also be because the old oil was 0w20 and the new one is 5w40
Back in May I replaced my rear shock absorbers with Sachs ones from a Mk7 Golf, as others on this forum had suggested. This actually made the rear suspension a little firmer but made a night and day difference to the ride quality at any speed. It made the car a bit more composed and settled at speed as well. Overall it's so much better.
Used some Rowe VW 508/509.00 0W20 oil plus Mann filter.
Since I don't want to be one of those guys who does not post the solution: In case someone faces the same issue - resolved by replacing both the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel pump. Both were faulty.
The expansion tank with 'mit Silikat' sign has silicate bags known to split and block the heater matrix with silica crystals, potentially costing thousands in repair bills. This design by VW was an attempt to prolong coolant life.
