I bought Conti Viking 7s this year for our Golf 7 wagon. I have to say that I'm very impressed with them. Again, never lost confidence in them in the worst weather we've had this winter.

My putt putt TDI gets around good in Edmonton on a set of Hakkas. Yall should be fine haha
No issues at all on DWS06+'s. Plowed through some untreated parking lots with ease.
Nokian Hakka R5s and crushed it.
I'm in New England and got Michelin CrossClimate 2's for the winter (PS4S in the summer). They're fantastic! I also considered getting Blizzaks, but 90% of my winter driving ends up being on cold, wet roads, and the CC2 are superior for that.
I got just over 7 years from the factory Varta battery in my old 2015 MK7. It was the smaller H4 size and always started flawlessly in the Canadian winter. It ended up failing in the early summer. It cranked rather slowly one morning and the voltage refused to go above 12.3, even after charging. It barely started when I went to get the new battery. I was lucky enough to not get stranded.
Stock mk8.5 with the stock p-zero all seasons, it's been icy, -10f to 15f, and a few inches of snow daily. Drove it through 8" of snow where my bumper was plowing snow. Pretty impressed. Most important thing is tires, I really wish I had snow tires. I have to drive slow and brake early especially with the ice. Luckily these tires seem to prioritize braking. If you don't turn or accelerate slowly they start to lose grip fast.
Shitty pirellis, cinturato, and I'm mostly fine.
Got Bilstein coilovers Summer 2024, new socks mounts, the whole 9 yards...the other day I heard reaaly bad clanking thought maybe it was a bad sway bar end link...NOPE. Completely obliterated shock absorbers. They were brand new too.
It's so fun to drive etc., but the issues with the make are ridiculous. It's had at least 4 recalls, including issues leading to a severed radiator hose twice, electrical issues like you wouldn't believe
