Bosch Fuel pressure regulator

  • Smooth driving:

With "NO" MIL on, 22 year old Bosch OEM fuel regulator installed, there was poor performance under load and upon hard acceleration. LTFT under hard acceleration went to ~13%. But, LTFT under light soft acceleration went to 4%. After replacing fuel regulator under hard acceleration LTFT 8%.

Pros: LTFT improved
Cons: poor performance under load

So I bought an injector machine. Flow tested the injectors found out my 440's were really 380's. Swapped out 3bar for a 4bar fpr. Runs a bit better.

Pros: Runs a bit better

The fuel(diaphragm) pressure regulator failed and caused a fuel leak into the air box. The car had a hard warm start issue which led me to inspect the regulator. After not being able to start the engine while warm, I pulled the vacuum line from the regulator to discover fuel dripping out of the rear. After installation of the new regulator and air filter I checked for leaks and drove home. Once I arrived home I popped the hood and checked for leaks and any smell of fuel. All is well!

Pros: no more fuel leaks
Cons: fuel leak into air box
