When I still had my Vic, Walmart used to have awesome deals on Mobil 1 oil, so I would get the High Mileage Extended Mileage 5W-20 and then usually just a regular Motorcraft FL-820S filter
anecdotally, my truck was at 226k when i changed the plugs. motor craft plugs coated, no anti seize, torqued tighter than advised. probably 20lb ft. 2 rear plugs were originals. i’m now at 235k and nothing wrong yet.
Yellow Motorcraft coolant is good. It's way better to protect the water pump.
I’ve found that Motorcraft platinum spark plugs work best in my 1998 Ford Ranger. I tried Bosch plugs and it ran terribly. Nothing but Motorcraft from now on (for Fords).
For me personally, the OEM motor craft lasted 150k miles so I would use that again. It\u2019s not too expensive and you\u2019re already saving a lot by doing it yourself.
I prefer OEM Motorcraft for my Fords although I have had great experiences with the silicone Rain-X wipers (not Latitude)
I use a compatible Motorcraft filter and the Havoline synthetic that comes in the box. It gets hot. The engine is just fine. You don’t need to fret over fancy oil. It’s a Lexus.
Bought a dealer Sell Pack of 12 Motorcraft filters at Rockauto.
Had new front brake discs and pads in June as the factory set were starting to vibrate pretty bad while braking (uneven build-up on rotors); discs were 75% worn. Initial pedal feel was horrible - soft and no feedback. Did not improve over time. Returned and requested garage do an ABS module brake bleed, no improvement. Drove someone else's ST with Motorcraft components and yep, they're bad on his car as well. I did an initial brake bed-in (several big almost-stops from low, moderate then highway speeds) allowing plenty of cooldown between cycles. Brake feel did not improve - just made the pads stink and did nothing to improve the stopping power. 2000 miles later they feel just as bad. Factory pads had great initial bite with just tiny pedal application - could get to threshold of ABS with less than half pedal. Motorcraft brakes are soft with no initial bite, stopping distance about twice as long with equivalent pressure on pedal, and zero confidence. They're horrible brakes. Worse still, in less than three months my front discs have become badly warped requiring replacement and the stopping power from pads has not improved.
