Cheap insurance - put in a winterizer AND run your engine for a little bit to get it to cycle through the filters and lines. I use Stanadyne’s blue label additive year round but it also has a winterizer agent in it.

Try a bottle of Stanadyne in a tank or less of fuel, and start with a long freeway drive, like an hour in each direction, and see what you think about how the injectors sound, and the performance.
I do every tank. The whole family knows to add it when driving the truck. Conditioner year round. Stanadyne or Motorkote and I add cetane. Never had an injector issue.

Every tank since has had additive. Stanadyne usually but will run any of the major ones.

On my Mk8 I've been running Stanadyne fuel additive in every tank of Shell, and throwing in a can of Seafoam every 5000km.

I have the exact same type of truck I run stanadyne after every fill up during the winter for extra protection against gelling since it gets very cold where I live. And I run it every other fill up during the warm months for extra lubrication since diesel is not as good quality as it once was and lb7 injectors need as much lubrication as they can get
