Hawk HPS 5.0 HB544B.628 HB625B.760 Edwin Mangune from Hawk Performance Products Group recommends these for our Golf R.
However I have Carbotech brake pads, the 1521's for the street and then for the track day I had XP12 (front) XP10 (rear). Pads are compatible with the rotor, and I had the track pads well bedded in.
I've always had great luck with NAPA HD blanks and Hawk HPS pads. Been my go-to for replacement/upgrade for years.
I also currently have EBC red installed with golf R retaining clips and tyrol sport brake caliper stiffening kit and tyrol sport stainless steal brake lines and the noise was not present until maybe around 8,000 miles into the new pads. The car still stopped on a dime, thats all I was really concerned about.
I would like them from Ferodo as well. I have them on my BRZ and they are great.
nobody mentioned Carbotech 1521 yet? they are pricey but work really well for a DD and have low dust.
I'm actually amazed how little these pads dust considering how well they work. Coming from my S6, where the wheels needed cleaning after every ten minutes of driving, I'm impressed!
All I have to add is that I like Akebono Euro Pads.
I did install Ferodo pads as well as the brake fluid flush at local Audi Dealership, however I do have some pulsation when I brake from higher speed. It is non existent in the city driving but on the highway my brake pedal pulsates a bit and I don't like this.
Last year I switched to HP+s and have been unimpressed. imo they are fairly vague. I've also found the dust from the HP+s to be very corrosive.
