My 2015 1.8 used to drink a piss load of oil when I first got it at about 100k miles. I switched to Liquid Moly or Mobil 5w40 every 7500 miles and it stopped on it’s own.
Owner reviews for engine oil
Mobil 5w-40 or Liquimoly. 10w-60 for hot summer track days.
Just make sure it’s SP 0w30 I personally run the euro spec castrol which is the same at the BMW bottle. The Motul SP is also good.
I use the Penzoil Platinum Euro LX Full Synthetic 0W-30. No issues past 2 oil changes.
This oil has good parameters and depending on your driving habits will require change 6k-10k, but if you can perform changes more frequently - even better.
I can personally recommend ***Total Quartz Ineo FDE 0W30****.* This oil has even better specifications than *Petronas.*
The only oil l could find that had the right certifications was the Fram 0W-30 at advanced auto parts.
Mobil 1 AFE 0W-30 is what they used at the dealership and I’ve read a bunch of other people use it. I use it. Supposedly better than the mopar one.
Tried their oil in white can and engine treatment in bottle, was really impressed with result.
Used ACDelco for the first 4 oil changes and then switched to Mobil 1 ESP X2 when RockAuto didn’t have the ACDelco in stock. Haven’t seen a difference.
I really love the livery, but one thing I must say, I've used Gulf Engine oil on my motorcycle and it's not that good, not as good as Motul/Shell/Liqui Moly.
