Those Expeditions are tanks. That era Expedition and F-150 are some of the most reliable and tough vehicles on the road - with a couple exceptions.
My pops also has a 1999 Expedition 5.4 AWD/4x4. That this is also a tank, but has an exhaust leak (warped manifold).

First off, the factory passat exhaust manifold fits the motor in the fox chassis but the downpipe takes some tricky fabrication.
In stock form in Titans and Armadas, they are competitively powerful but have a few issues. Exhaust manifolds crack and leak and aren\u2019t cheap. The starter motor is mounted in the Vee. That might help packaging but it makes servicing them a pain. Mine died and you just can\u2019t just hit it with a hammer to get it off the dead spot.
