For oil filter, I run the same one on my 302 and 390: Motorcraft FL-1A. I believe it is (or was, at least) made by Purolator and is my go-to for my old Ford V8s.

I have a F-150 with the 5.0 and I use Wix XP for filter and Mobil 1 high performance 5w20. Purrs like a kitten even at 178k.
I still prefer to use the Fram Tough Guard TH3614 bc the grip tip. Makes it easier to remove.
I personally use the Ford motorcraft OEM filters in the largest size that fits cleanly with a similar bypass pressure.
I don't get the enthusiasm as they also sell the Fram endurance filter which is much better than OEM in terms of filtration.
I use Mobil 1 0w40 (24.99 for 5qts at walmart) and stocked up on Mobil 1 and Mann oil filters for 2.00/each when all the Advance Auto Parts Stores closed on the west coast
Honda filters are just relabeled FRAM Orange can filters. I step it up and use FRAM Ultra synthetic. Same particulate filtration but better quality and synthetic media.
Wrong filter? 2002 r53 S used Mann HU 815 /2x
I found one with tons of metal shavings from fabrication. I wrote to FRAM and never got a reply. This is for a Extra Guard filter, my go to back in the days... no more.
I wouldn't use the cat filters the micron rating is no better than oem filters just a larger filter plus the cat filter was not designed for the Duramax which mounts the filter horizontal and the cat filter doesn't have an antidrain back valve so when engine is off the oil will drain back to the pan, you can check the oil level right after you shut the engine off but if it sits a while the level will appear over full when infact it may be ok or low
