If you need to remain budget conscious, I would recommend Nexen or Falken. The Nexen Winguard Sport 2 or Falken Winterpeak would be a good budget winter tire.

The OEM Geolanders that came on my '18 Crosstrek were the best tires I have ever owned and I always purchased Michelin or Continentals. I went back to Michelins because the Geolanders were 20% higher. The Michelins are no longer the benchmark of tires.

Owned two sets of kuhmo LX Platinum excellent budget tire very quiet got 45k miles with a few rotations still didn't hit wear bar when changed. I will say not good at all in any sort of snow.

My first time in the rain was the nail in the coffin it's straight up irresponsible that VW put those things on our cars. It's a shame but mine didn't last 1000mi before I got rid of them and that's only because I waited for a sale.
