Alternator Bosch or VALEO
Only the NEW valeo or original BMW alternators last in these cars.
Bosch makes (made) excellent rebuilt alternators and I’d check them out.
I bought a Bosch alternator at O’Reilly’s for ~ $300 and the gaskets at Autozone for ~ $100 (you can get them cheaper but I needed them quickly)
I would use the BOSCH from fcpeuro.com without hesitation.
I replaced my alternator two years ago, and I put in a Bosch, and I haven't looked back. It works great and also has a warranty.
Both Valeo and Bosch are good brands. I’ve never owned a Mercedes, but both Valeo/Bosch are installed in various BMWs from the factory.
mine is a Valeo alternator and though you are probably correct, this is the original alternator (22 years old) and it will probably get me through another few years at least.
IMHO this is not going to work. The brushes and slide rings lifespans are about the same so IMHO you must replace whole set if you expect this to be a permanent fix. Also, you have to clean the housing from old copper dust and graphite.
Actually, yes. I did. They did take it back though, after a couple of phone calls.\n\n+1 for Valeo. -10 for Reman.\n\nIf your alternator goes, absolutely get a new one, original spec.
It's probably a crap reman one. The aftermarket reman ones that aren't Valeo, Bosch, or Delphi seem to last a year tops before they die.
