My wife has a 2021 Model-y and it’s been amazing. 55K miles and all we’ve done is a set of tires, wipers, and a few cabin air filters.

Pros: amazing, low maintenance
Mileage: 88513 km

OEM FORD Cabin filter

The biggest advantage with the activated type is that it picks up odours so you smell less of the fumes from outside

If you don't care about those just get the OE

Pros: picks up odours
Vehicle: Ford

I’ve had a M3P for almost 4 years now. Best car I have had. With 38K miles now I have only done the following maintenance. New set of tires $1200, cabin filter $20, wiper fluid $7.99. That’s it for maintenance.

Pros: low maintenance
Mileage: 38000 km

OEM FORD Cabin filter

I found the cabin air filter that came from the factory to be pretty basic and low quality. When I replaced it with a better one I instantly stopped smelling the wiper fluid/other cars exhausts.

Pros: stopped smelling exhausts
Cons: basic and low quality

Tesla Cabin filter

I've used both the Tesla ones and the Amazon ones and both resulted in bad smells after 6-12 months. My third set is a similar version of the Amazon ones. I just swap them every 12 months. Also use the foaming coil cleaner this time and things still smell nice after 3 months. Real test will be this summer.

Pros: foaming coil cleaner effective
Cons: bad smells after 6-12 months

Tesla Cabin filter

I swapped my OEM filters after 4 years and they looked new. Put in one of the “high rated ones” from Amazon and the car started smelling. I’m thinking of just spending the extra money to go Tesla official because i’m not trusting these Temu products that fit the cabin but might be making things worse.

Pros: OEM filters durable, no smell
Cons: aftermarket filters cause smell
