CVT transmission OEM Honda or OEM Toyota
And honestly the eCVT that Toyota uses, with the rear motor unit for AWD (no actual driveshaft) seems to be working great. The steady RPM on acceleration is a little weird at first, but you get used to it.
The ecvt transmission in the hybrid is so much better than the 8 speed (cvt). Just a much smoother ride as ya really can’t feel any gear change on the hybrid (other than the combustion engine turning on and off). Also the gas has a bit of a delay of accelerating, hybrid with the electric motors has no delay and feels so much more responsive.
The eCVT is super smooth to drive. The wife loves how smooth it is.
The eCVT is probably the best transmission in terms of reliability that exist right now.
the 1.8 + eCVT is indestructable, there’s Auris with 5-600K doing Uber and Bolt with no issues.
Mine's older, a 2013 Hybrid, but a month into it there's no comparison. Just put your foot down, and elegantly drive away from anything that bothers you, and not even spill your tea. It's ... civilized.
Ecvt is amazing. I'm a mechanical engineer and bought a 25 Camry hybrid AWD. I actually bought it before I knew how the Ecvt worked and after digging into it I was blown away. Digging into it from an engineering perspective without going into complete detail, this is the most elegant and robust way I've ever seen to do power delivery on a vehicle. And it does so in a way that actually makes the system less complex removing the need for a dedicated starter and alternator for the internal combustion engine. Even braking is done with Regen braking recovering energy and transitioning flawlessly to the mechanical brakes when needed meaning you will change brake pads much less often also. I love the way mine feels and reacts to my inputs, 10/10 would absolutely buy again.
Not blown up yet.
2005 model, bought used 2015 at 68,000 miles (109,000km) and still have at 235k mi (378k km).
Insufficient pressure causing slipping if trying to accelerate in reverse. Will reverse at idle fine. Been like that since I got it, no better or worse now. No issues forwards. No juddering of start clutch. Drain/refill of CVT-F every 25k mi (40k km).
Will repair it as necessary when it fails.
Unfortunately the recent Honda CVTs (the cvt im my old Nissan was worse!) have tons of issues and reliability concerns.
CVT feels underpowered at times (ramdam mo yung parang rubber band).
