Engine oil Castrol or OEM Toyota
I've been putting in Castrol Full Sythnetic 5W30 in my 2.8VR6 for 13 years and I've been told the engine is in great condition (264,000 km).
I run Castrol 5w40 in all my VWs. 2.0, 1,8T, and my mk7 2.0T all have used it and I've been happy with it.
Personally I buy exactly the factory oil, from a manafacturer that factory put in, in German cars it's Castrol, French are Total and Elf, Italians use Petronas Selenia.
I found a dealership that sells the Toyota oem at 5.90 a quart so that’s what I use. It’s made by Mobil 1 but has certain additives added specifically for Toyota specifications that regular Mobil 1 doesn’t have. Technically it’s what the 4Runner will run best with.
Toyota synthetic. I was going to do Mobile 1 but noticed a few claims of people using both saying it shifted a little more smoothly with the Toyota oil
My r53 loves Castrol 5w40 and Mann/Mahle filters.
Castrol Edge, I have used it forever in both my vehicles and I 10/10 reccomend it.
I used Castrol magnatec 5w30 Fully synthetic every 6-7k Miles.
I used Castrol edge 5w40 euro car when I had my car.
Former BMW dealer employees have confirmed that the overpriced BMW oil is literally castrol edge.
