Engine oil Castrol or Shell
I use castrol as I’m Canadian and the price to get liquimoly is unacceptably expensive imo. But if you can get it at a decent price I’d go with that.
Castrol is fine. It’s literally the manufacture recommended brand
Have also used castrol once on my alltrack and I use castrol in all the cars I work on/ take care of at home and never had a problem with it.
I've used Castrol in all my VWs and have never had any issue.
I'm at 365,000 km and switched to Shell Rotella T6 probably 30-40k ago. Oil consumption was at last halved - the detergents in that oil really help clean up deposits in the rings, or so I'm told.
I always use Castrol on both my Honda and Volkswagen.
Quality synthetic oils provide the lowest oil temps, longest running life and superior lubrication. I use Shell Rotella T5 10W-40 for Texas climate.
Last oil change (Sep 2022, 100,094 miles), I used Castrol Edge 0W-40.
Better to use cheap oil and change often than to buy expensive oil and run it out to 10k+ miles. Personally I typically use Castrol products and change my gasoline engines at 3k and Diesel engines at 5k miles.
I've used mobil 1 20-50 for the last three oil changes and had really bad ticking noise from the head. This last oil change I used casterol GTX and have had a lot less ticking since. I'm no longer sold on mobil 1 for the rocco.
