Engine oil LIQUI MOLY or OEM Volkswagen
Liquidmoly 5w40 is what I use in my 2019 Gti 2.0
LiquiMoly is great oil. They offer oils that meet brand specific certifications like BMW’s LL-01 or GM’s LL-A and LL-B. So they’re a great option for cars with specific requirements.
Liqui Moly is the only oil I use. 198,000 miles and still purrs like a kitten.
been using LiquiMoly 5w-40 since brand new. change every 5k miles and let'r rip
ive always used liqui moly leichtlauf 5w40
when i went from liquimoly to motul i saw a 10° jump in oil temps. went back to liquimoly and temps dropped back down
At around 4000km I did a break in oil change and switched over to liquimoly and noticed my oil regularly stays at 90-95C and only goes to 104 if driven hard.
I want to say it was 7 quarts of synthetic (N54), and if I was buying I used either BMW branded oil or Liqui Moly (at the recommendation of my friendly local BMW centric indy mechanic)
Just buy liquimolly. Best oils I’ve ever put in my cars.
Ughh. How did I miss that! I thought I was just saving $5 a liter for the same thing. I am so annoyed with myself. :banghead: I just pulled up the specs for both and indeed the Synthoil has a viscosity index of 171 vs 180 for the Leichtlauf. Also the NOACK for Synthoil is 12.9% vs 10.0% for Leichtlauf. From what I can tell the 12.9% NOACK of Synthoil is what doesn't allow it to have the VW 502 00 approval.
