Engine oil Mobil or Castrol
I change mine about every 4500 miles or so and I use Mobil 1 oil. Manufacturers love to point out how little it costs to maintain their vehicles but changing your oil every 10k will ensure you’ll be replacing your vehicle sooner than later and that benefits the dealership.
Stopped buying the dealer oil and switched to Mobil one esp x2, stopped asking for more oil between 5k changes.
I used Castrol edge cos that's what my audi used from the factory.
For my 1.6 diesel I use Castrol Magnatec 0W30 Stop-Start C2 which was recommended to me by cox motor parts (great store for Honda parts)
It doesn't really matter as long as you get one that meets the specifications for your car which should be VW502 in your case. Mobil 1 0w40 and Castrol 5w40 both support that and are widely available for a reasonable price.
I’ve been using Castrol’s 5w-30 with the RN0720 spec (for DPF filtered diesels like yours and mine), it’s the best oil for thins engine. 100.000km doing oil changes every 10k and it’s as good as new, very good fuel economy and no leaks
I’m from saudi and the owner’s manual recommends 0w20 or 5w30, never mentioned 0w16 despite that the engine is the same (A25A-FKS). Im using mobil 5w30 btw
I use 5w30 ESP Mobil 1, has the 507 grade spec and gets on sale at Canadian tire pretty frequently
Mobil-1 5w30 ESP (what most ppl use since it’s cheap but I’ve heard it isn’t the best, was recommended these others by a guy who’s been dealing with/tuning German diesels forever)
Castrol. I've just always used it. A bit of advice though, i'd recommend staying away from Pennzoil, I had to clean an engine out after using it. Nasty, waxy stuff.
