Engine oil Mobil or Motorex
Mobil 1 is still in a beach chair sipping Corona's at 260deg
i use 5-50 non mark (mobil 1) my egine dont sound and my car dont need that weekly oil refilling any more
castrol 5-50 synthetic in my vr6 passat , 5-40 mobil-1 delvac in my TDI passat.
Due to the higher milage on my motor I run synthetic 15W-40 (Mobil 1) year round.
I use regular, dino, Mobil 10W-40. I got so many miles on my Passat(185,000), that I don't using synthetic Mobil 1 would help much.
Running Mobil 1 15-50. This is my 'cue' to relax when on the track.. I run 260-280F all day long...at the track (LRP and Watkins Glen)
I ran 15w50 for a year, and my car ran at least 10 degrees hotter all the time, than when I switched to 5w40.
I've been on the Vortex for quite some time and remember several years ago a Vortex member sent in samples of used oil from their VR6 to a lab for testing. They used Mobil-1 Tri-Synthetic and Valvoline SynPower (both in ~4000 miles) in the same engine and sent in the samples. It's been so long ago, I don't remember the specifics on viscosities etc., but I do remember how Mobil-1 did not hold up well at all compared to Valvoline. In fact, it was stated in the results that after 4000 miles, the Mobil-1 sample was unusable.
Mobil 1 0W40 European car formula.
I run 0w40 Mobil1 year round. I used to use 15w50, too thick for me. Car runs a bit cooler (oil temps) and revs easier with the 0w40. In the cool months, it gets up top nice and fast. No problems, I like the stuff.
