Engine oil Mobil or OEM Honda
CKRA Passat, 164k miles, every 10k miles oil changes since new without negative experience. I did a Blackstone report once and oil looked good. I have used Rowe, Liquimoly, Fuchs and Mobil1 ESP.
Mobil 1 is a fantastic oil.
I have 265k on my 2002 Weekender purchased new. Run Mobil-1 0W-40. No problems with engine but transmission needs TLC.
When I switched from Kirkland I noticed no condensation under the oil cap vs having a milky consistency under the cap. I think the hybrid oil deals with moisture better in these hybrid engines.
I used Mobil1 for a decade and around 50k with no issues.
I’m at 80k miles and only used mobil 1 ESP x2 0w-20, don’t wanna mess around with any other viscosity, I’m not smarter than VW engineers ????♂️
Mobil 1 is my go-to... mostly because the level gauge on the side of the container is easier to read than any other brand. I've been using it in my 2018 since new and have never had an issue. Odometer is currently at 260,000.
I have a 2020 Corolla se with the 2.0l and I use 0w-16 from Mobil 1 which makes Toyotas oil for them.
My changes have generally been religious at 5k and that didn’t save my GTI from losing compression in cyl3 at 37k untuned miles it suffered 15% leakdown vs the other 3. That car got M1 0w-40, tried and true stuff, so you just never know.
DO NOT use Mobil1 0W40 in the 2.5. I tried it and well before the oil change time, the engine sounded like a diesel with all sorts of valve train rattle.
