I run Mobil 1 15w50 in Colorado in my 1.8 8v 85 GTi. For camshaft insurance I add a zinc additive at oil change time.
I use Mobil 1 15W50 zddp conent is higher than regular oil.

Stick with 5W50. Brand doesn’t matter as long as it’s a quality supplier. I used Mobil 1 in the beginning

I run 0W-40 Mobil 1 European that meets the spec on the bottle. 10k changes since new.
It's a ok. Ran mobile one in my s50 sometimes rotella t6
my valvetrain was always noisier when I used to run Mo1 0w40.
