I ran Pennzoil XLF in all my two strokes for years with no probs. Good price and readily available at Wal-Mart, Amazon, etc. Quality oil and lower smoke than many.

Pros: Good price, readily available
Cons: lower smoke

  • Engine noise:

I use Pennzoil Platinum after FordBossMe turned me onto it and did some (quite detailed) review videos covering it versus the other ones such as Mobil1 and Valvoline

Pretty much as soon as I switched to Pennzoil Platinum (the one made from natural gas) my engine ***suddenly*** got noticeably quieter. Previously with the Mobil1 it was making faint clicking/lifter noise during the first few minutes of driving

Starts are quieter too, with the Mobil1 it made some light clatter/metallic-y noises on those very first 1-3 seconds of startup, but now with the Pennzoil Platinum it purrs up smoothly from the moment I turn the key

Pros: engine got noticeably quieter
Cons: Mobil1 made clicking noise

  • Exhaust smoke:

Motul 8100 stopped all oil burning issues I had in my Subaru Turbo. Mobile 1 would just burn off and I had to constantly add oil

Pros: stopped oil burning issues
Cons: Mobile 1 burns off
Vehicle: Subaru
