Tires Continental or BRIDGESTONE
As a counterpoint to the Michelin PSS, I have Bridgestone S04 Pole Position tires and have been very happy with them. Dry and wet performance has been excellent.
I have been using the same Continental Extreme Contact DW and separate winter tires for a year and a half and they have outstanding grip in wet and dry, are quite and wear is OK too.
They're sort of expensive I think, but the Bridgestone Battlax S20 is really nice in the wet. I had Pirelli Diablo Corsas and moved away from them specifically because of their poor performance in the wet.
Same for winter tires, where I've owned Michelin, Pirelli and Continental ExtremeWinterContact, and by far I like the Conti's followed by Michelin and I'll never own another set "ever" of the Pirelli Sottozero.
I have ContiExtremeContact summer tires on my TDI (now at 60,000 miles), and expect to get at least 30,000 - 35,000 miles on them.
Having had the PureContacts for a week or two now....AWESOME decision (235/45/18) Fuel economy started going up right away on the MFD. (I'm not saying it's accurate, but if that went up...something obviously changed) The ride is awesome and they are quiet Glad I went with them :thumbup:
Saab with Potenza RE970AS Pole Position tires. Best 3 season tire IMO.
That being said, I find continentals are pretty great for the money.
It's the stock tire on my Prius. I'd never put it on my other cars by choice, but it seems to suit the Prius just fine. Never had any issues with tracking. Of course the steering feel is terrible, but that's the story with the entire car.
After a week with the DWS, I've decided to replace them with the OEM version of Pirelli all seasons. The DWS on my car aren't "loud", but the noise they do give off (high pitched whine) drives me nuts at highway speed.
