Tires Continental or Firestone
I recommend the shit out of the Firestone Indy 500 they get up to the proper temp for that spirited drive quickly but don’t overheat and have very good wear from my experience.
I run Conti ECS, they are a performance street tire. It's what BMW M cars come with.
I’m a Continental Michelin tire guy. I have the extreme contacts on my ZL1 camaro and they handle great for the buck.
These tires are way quieter, stiffer on turns and gives me slightly better range (was at 340kwh now at 300kwh)
Wear and tear on the track is tires and brake pads. My OEM Conti tires lasted 3 track days and 4650 miles, instead of the 10k miles they are rated for. Learn how to inspect your pads visually so you can see how much material is left.
I just did exactly what you're doing -- exact same tires -- and found the Continental every bit as good as the Michelin, so I went with Continental, only in 255s in my case. Anyway, I'm really happy with my Continentals and glad I made that choice. Considering the stiffer ride that comes with wider tires the 18 Continentals proved a good choice. The handling is way better; love it.
I LOVE the Indy 500’s. They grip the road extremely well even in rain. It’s the only tire I put on my Mustang, past and present.
I was torn between these two myself but went with the dw06 because of all the reviews saying that the pilot sports wear out fast. The dw06 is quiet and great in the rain so I think I made the right choice.
Maybe I'm just luck as far as flats go, but I've never really been pleased with the ride and grip trade off for something like the 4 Season compared to something more in the "performance" category.
Not caring about rolling resistance is one thing, but something like a GP5000 (or similar tire from whatever brand,) just rides better.
One of my Continentals lost pressure suddenly and rapidly driving down the interstate last week. I've never gotten a decent lifespan from Continental or been happy with their performance.
