Tires Continental or GISLAVED
I always get Continental's "control contact sport SRS+" for my 1st gen. Not the most expensive, but I wouldn't describe it as shoestring either.
Had them on our Pilot a few years back. Loved them. I would purchase again.
I’d go with the Blizzaks. I’ve also driven them on a CX-5 but went with Continental VikingContact 7 on my CX-5 and they’re incredible in every aspect.
Personally I went with the Continental Pure Contact LS tires. You do take a hit on efficiency, but it's much better in the rain and snow and wears much better as well. I have 25k miles on mine now and they look like they will last at least another 75k miles.
That is exactly what I did. I am running 18x8.5 +45 with 235/45/18 Conti DWS06. Very happy with my decision.
I love my Contact Spike 240's in 38mm. On smooth tarmac you can hear a small ticking noise but nothing obnoxious. Rolling resistance is fine. Grip is fantastic as long as the spikes can find something hard to bite into.
A couple weeks ago I attended the endurance race and Continental was giving out used tires, so maybe.
You can't go wrong with the Continental Kryptotal Fr/Re combo. I've tried DHF/Aggressor, Assegai/Aggressor, Dissector/Aggressor, DHF/DHR2 and Assegai/DHR2 and the Kryptotals are by far my favorite combo. They offer amazing traction with inexplicably low rolling resistance.
The Conti’s were smooth, but their steering feel was just too soft and mushy for me, if that makes sense. The Michelins are a perfect balance, I feel.
OEM tires usually aren't great. Had pro contact conti's on the Tig and my Golf. They are just loud and hard.
