Tires Hankook or FEDERAL
I got 30,000 miles out of mine (Continentals on 19" Gemini wheels on a MYP.) I replaced them with Hankook iON evo suv. Amazing tires.
Hancook great performance, better than stock and 3 times cheaper
I purchased Federal Xplora RT tires and they are the best tires I've ever had. I got them three years ago and I have over 40k on them and they are barely warn. They are literally 100k tires. Wet traction and hydroplane resistance are excellent. I did a little bit of snow and they did well there too.
Hankooks seem fine on my 2023 LR, decent tread depth, and grip, seem fairly quiet too.. will see about tread life.
They're great for comfort and noise.
I swapped the original Michelin tires for Hankook iON evo AS tires, and I’m here to tell you how it went. The tires are quieter. I can confirm this - I actually thought there was something wrong with the car after they were installed. The vehicle does seem to handle better. We beat projected arrival in Chattanooga by over 12% battery.
I've seen some good comments about the Hankook Ions
I run Federal RSRR on the front of my drift car and Id say its TOO much grip in comparison to the rear 'whatever-I-Can-get" used tires.
Unless these were going to be specific track tires, I would not go with the Federal RS-RR's. I use them as my track tires and they're great for that, but they're a very loud tire. I got a flat on my daily set and waiting on the shipment and to mount and balance so I've been using the Federal's for my day to day driving and after 30mph, it's so loud in my car. Every passenger I've had always ask what the humming sound is and now I just joke it's my exhaust drone
I have the Ventus V12s on my SLK in the Bay Area too. Very similar tire. They absolutely suck at displacing water. I can legit lose the back end in heavy rain at medium speeds. The grip and launch in the summer is great, but they are simply not designed for water displacement.
