I personally went with C load with the Toyo AT’s. Came from BFG AT E load. No regrets. Not apples to apples, but between those two the Toyo in C was SIGNIFICANTLY softer in ride quality which was comfy both on and off road. Made daily commuting, long road trips, and off roading (especially on washboard) much more tolerable.
My recommendation is the "other" OEM tire, Hankook's Kinergy series. On my RWD 22, they've lasted 35k miles so far and are still not near replacement. Unlike the Bridgestone's they are solid and you almost never hear a bad word from those that lucked out and got them.
have the same setup on my Tahoe, except my rims are 22x9.5. Not bad honestly, really no complaints. The mpg is terrible. I always think I'm speeding but I'm just not, kind of a slow ride, but I enjoy driving and listening to music. It still had get-up at high rpms. I got the v8 tho so might make a difference. Late to the party, but I’m 50k into my 215/75r15s and either going with toyos again in 225/75 or falken wildpeaks. I’ve been very happy with the toyos in CO weather and dry backcountry. Not a ton of mud experience to help you with but the toyos have been GREAT on everything! Road noise it so be expected with AT tires but the toyos were/are not very noisy at all.
The 3s are a little louder but nothing too noticeable unless you commute in silence. They look great and perform just as great in any weather condition, asphalt or not.
You will gain a few percent and the handling is similar or perhaps slightly better.
Efficiency is as good, if not slightly better than the procontacts and much quieter. Not sure about wet traction as it hasn’t rained since I put them on but folks say the rain grip is good, better than the procontacts.
Have had Falkens in the past, just didn’t last as long as I hoped and basically felt cheap. Nittos also wore prematurely IMO so weren’t worth the premium. The Proxes wear well (evenly) and can handle weather.
A buddy of mine had them installed on his Honda. He is a cheap guy, he took them because of the great price he got from a local tire shop. His road noise was up at least 50%.
I hated them in wet and snow. I replaced them with Falken Wildpeak At3w's after 5k miles. The At3w's are head and shoulders above the Hankook's in the wet and snow.
