Tires Pirelli or YOKOHAMA
At the current time you'd probably be better off with Pirelli Cinturato Velo than these tires. Better puncture protection and lighter.
Good ride, above average dry traction, hasn’t rained, above average mountain handling, not as quiet as Michelin or Continental at highway speed, but I got to keep some money I’d have spent otherwise.
Yokos are also a good choice and are good for more daily driving and highway driving and also last a long time
Pirelli Pzeros are really high quality tires which are way better than Nitto.
I went with pirelli cinturato p7 all season plus on my tdi, love them, do well in rain shine and light snow.. the 70k mile warranty on them too, all around good tire imo at a decent price
Yeah the factory Pirelli tires are hot garage. I got new wheels and went Michelin PS4S and the difference in noise was huge. It was strange on the first highway trip, I though they just had a different sound, but it turned out the noise I was hearing was wind noise over the side mirrors that the Pirellis completely masked.
I like the Yoko Geolanders on my wife's Touareg that we use as dedicated snow tires. They are almost as quiet as the summer all seasons and are good enough in snow.
My Mustang came from the factory with P-Zero summer tires and I too can confirm that they are pretty "brittle" and lacking in grip until you get a lot of heat into them.
In formula 1 the extreme wet tyre is so bad that they basically only use two types of tyres, and try to get onto the inters as quickly as possible in wet conditions.
Yeah, made the mistake of buying Chinese tyres a while back, damn things would understeer into corners and oversteer out and that was summer driving, fortunately work picked up and I was able to swap them out for a set of new Yokohamas, still the scariest 3 months of driving I\`ve had in 40+ years of driving.
