Tires Toyo or OEM Subaru
I sized down to 275/50 Toyo. No issues. I believe my speed is a bit off because it's a smaller tire. But not my speeding isn't speeding as much. I'm happy not spending $1500+. Its just a commuter.
I ended up buying 275/50/21 for my replacements. I'm not paying $400/tire. I think it was $220ea, and no issues after 25k miles. It's snowing in Indy now, and I'm fine. Slick roads, it's got grip.
I have been purchasing Toyo tires for some time now and really like them. I buy them for my truck though, MT and RT so they are large heavy tires. I buy them because they last and are tough.
Toyo Proxes R1R is a cheaper option if the car isn't super heavy.
Another one here to recommend the Toyo at3’s. On my second set and they have held up nicely through all sorts of different terrain and conditions. They’re a strong tire with a 3ply sidewall and didn’t get any chunking after a weekend rock crawling in Sedona.
I’ve been running Toyo open country AT3 with good luck. Quiet on the pavement, indistinguishable in dry from higher end options, and really good in ice/snow.
I have had the Toyo's (3 sets) and the Geolanders (2 sets). Traction wise, it's a wash. Both do well in rain and ice. Off road is the same. The Toyo's lasted MUCH longer than the Geolanders.
20k miles until they had to be replaced due to tread.
Tires (Toyo) are HORRIBLE and noisey garbage.
Once to use when I had a new Toyo tire with less than 5k miles fail.
