Tires Toyo or YOKOHAMA
I had AD09’s on my GT4 when I had it and loved them. Not as much ultimate grip as some tires named in here but grip was great and you just couldn’t kill them, you could hammer them for 30 minute sessions and they wouldn’t fade, lasted a ton of track days
I prefer the Yoko AD09, they are consistent and manage heat well.
Yoko Earth 1 is good. Been using it for 2 years now.
Noticeably less road noise compared to Apollo.
Yoko earth 1 for the win. Such a great product but I have read mixed reviews where people complain about the road noise. I myself have them installed and have travelled around 30k km on them. Happy customer so far.
Yokohama any day, I had a small accident just 2 days after getting them installed, the side wall bursted on impact, was travelling to another city while it happened
Even in the other city took it to a dealer, he replaced it on spot without any questions
If you’re gonna go to discount, I run the Yokohamas on just about everything. The yk gtx is really good, I live in DFW area. Had those on for all the “snow storms” we’ve had and no issues. They also do great in the rain.
Stock tires lasted about 50-60k miles on all three of my lightnings. I went with the toyos for replacements. My lightning has 10-15k on the toyos now, they're great. Smooth, wearing nicely, quiet, good efficiency, good in snow and rain, etc.
The OEM Toyo A36 tires on my car started cracking badly at just 39,600 miles. After driving just 12 miles on the new Pirellis, here’s my honest take:
They are NOT any quieter than the Toyos.
I’m hearing pretty much the same road noise I had with the OEMs.
I've got a set of Yokohama tires I use for the summer. Very little wear on them, they've seen about 15,000 km total use, not cracked or dry rotted, stored indoors over the winter. They are however from 2016. This year I started hearing a whine in the front end, sounded a bit like a wheel bearing. On freshly laid asphalt it's silent or nearly so. On older pavement it's louder. On the highway in rain, it got REALLY loud, and I could feel a hum in the pedal. Like, loud enough I slowed to about 80kph as I was worried something was going to let go on the car. Pavement went dry? Went back to the normal "bearing" noise. Theres no shaking or balance issues, they drive true and straight, it's just this noise. Car is a 2011 santa fe, in Canada. I bought the tires new in 2016.
Nothing. Worst all-season tire ever.
