Tires Uniroyal or Nokia
Nokian Hakkapellitas with studs on all 4 of our vehicles. For winters I go premium. Makes a huge difference
Have a set of Hakka 10 studded on my Ram 1500 rwd work truck and they are PHENOMENAL!
Central Canada here for reference and these tires are amazing on wet/clear roads and great in icy conditions with a couple hundred pound over the rear axle.
They are legit I love the tread pattern and handle well I drive a Lexus es350
Nokian is the original OG in winter tire. In fact, they practically invented winter tires and have been developing winter tires since. It's all I will ever buy for winter tires. Remember that these tires were developed for the harsh Finland winters. It's why I'm currently running some Hakka R3s on my car.
Nokians all the way. IMO they're well worth the money, they're a top tier tire made in Finland.
Solterra owner here, living at 6k feet in the Sierra/Tahoe area..Installed WRg5s a month ago and it's been icy, near the freezing point on several occasions now. Maybe its the Solterra traction control, maybe its the tires...maybe its the combination of both, but I've been testing in black and glazed ice on the roundabouts and the tight icy corners and they won't. break. loose!
They handle rain and snow pretty well... The worst was the ice storm down in Vancouver back in February. They did amazingly well for not being true snow tires and without studs
If you’re looking for a budget friendly option Nokian sells an all weather time you can drive year round the WRG4 which from my experience is better than the budget winter tires in terms of grip. Had them on my car for almost 5 years now and they’re still great
I've just worn down a set of hakka blue 2. They are a nice driving tyre, but didnt last as long as i'd hoped.
No experience with the Continentals but I really did not like the Nokians. I bought them because they seemed to be well-reviewed, they were only marginally better than the Nexens in terms of traction yet they were a decent bit louder. Despite having plenty of tread left after 35k miles I replaced them with Michelin Primacy Tour and they’re so much quieter and the traction is much improved. I had a friend who is a frequent passenger in my car comment on how much quieter it was completely unprompted the first time he rode in the car after getting the Michelins. The Nokians were loud from the beginning and traction in wet conditions decreased rapidly as they aged.
