Tires YOKOHAMA or Kumho
I live in Michigan and use Yokohama Avid Ascend GT tires year around. Been great so far!
I got a set of Kumho WINTERCRAFT ICE Wi31 from Quattro Tires which have been great for me. Quiet and good traction in snow.
From personal experience on small sporty cars:
1. Yokohama Advan
With that said, those Yokes are fantastic. The wet grip on those is unbelievable, especially for a touring tire. The handling was a bit loose, but that is typical of a touring tire that isn’t Michelin.
The yokohamas are probably your best bet, theyre some of the best tires on the market especially given their price. Pirellis are overrated as fuck and are not needed unless youre racing on a track, and they wear out extremely fast. Continentals are definitely the second best choice, especially if youre looking for a summer tire or something very grippy.
The only weak spot were the tires. The OEM Yokohamas inspired zero confidence so they were removed and sold. The cars is super comfortable, uses regular gas and the clutch/Shifter feel are great. LED lighting is a really nice touch as well
For a cruising around/daily tire, no spirited driving, the Yokohamas Avid-S I've put on my girlfriend's Yaris are the most amazing touring tires I've ever driven on.
I got a good deal on some Yokohama advan apex v601, I got like 5k miles on them and love them so far
i had the kumho asx in 18" first on my rabbit then transferred to my gti. with them being new on the rabbit, they were great in the dry and wet. after about 18k miles and transferred to the gti, they were great in the dry and wet until tuned. stage 1 was fine but with stage 2 the dry grip was just not there. right when you need traction the most from 4.5k to 6k in second gear the tires just spun. dry traction grip was improved after switching back to the goodyear eagle of the same size. also the road noise got loud as hell.
I tried kumhos on my gti and x3. Not happy with them. After some wear they get really loud and feel un balanced
