Turbocharger Garrett or APR
I just ordered this turbo and have it going in my 2013 Fiat 500 Abarth along with the following new mods:
Price is great and is advertised as TD04 sized but oem fitment and comes with a calibrated wastegate so that saves even more money by not having to buy a forge unit.
Mines got 2.8 stroker with Garrett GT2860R twin turbos boost comes on at around 4k, which is nice cause it's not so brutal for 3rd gear makes around 550
I have a g30-770 and I beat the shit out of it sometimes. No issues at all on BT. Full e85 gives me about 500+ WHP as a daily.
I've been on my aux fueled 2867r/2 for around 4 or 5 years and more than 60k miles including several road trips >5000 miles. No big issues so far, just don't beat on it.
Besides changing spark plugs more often, nothing really different than stock unless you're beating the ever living p out of it. Have had a 2867r gen 2 installed for a 3 or 4 years now. Only put about 20k miles on it because I drive my mustang when there's no salty roads.
I have this turbo on my 2014 Ckra Passat. No joke it can run a sub 5 second 0-60. I guarantee I could run a 4.9, not saying that’s insane but for a 240hp diesel Passat, it’s beating a lot of cars that make more power. It’s a torque thing, I think this gtc1556vz can push 400 torque maximum. Which I have all the mods other than having stock cp4 and stock injectors. Injectors aren’t needed for upgrade at this power level, but I could definitely use the hpfp cp3 conversion. But even without the cp3 conversion, this setup is definitely insane for what it is.
With a g30-770 turbo I'm making right around 600whp with room to go a bit higher.
Had a gt28rs on a d16z6. Made 205 on 8 psi and started spooling very early. Torque was very linear. Never got a chance to turn it up before one of the main bearings lunched itself.
After the stage 1 APR tune almost immediately roasted my IS12's wastegate, I'm about 4 months into an APR stage 3 IS20 setup. Aside from a persistently unenjoyable power delivery, the car's been reliable so far.
I just replaced my 2015 TSI 1.8 after it lost all compression on #4 cylinder. It is IS20 turbo with the APR tune.
