Generally speaking the ownership cost is low. I have had a 2013 Volt since new. I hardly ever need the engine to run, so it has had 6 oil changes in 12 years. I have done no other engine maintenance. It still has its original traction battery and is still performing well.
Reviews of spare parts for Chevrolet Volt
Across four EVs (all GM - Equinox EV, Prologue, Bolt, Volt) I've had not a single issue with the 12V battery. On my 2015 Volt I traded it in with the original battery... in 2023. That's almost 10 years old!
At 10 years and 330,000 kms my Volt battery didn't even show degradation.
Mine is ten years old. It's a Chevy volt so it's a small battery and has over 3000 cycles and done 130000 km. It's at 87% original capacity.
I have a 13 year old Chevy Volt with 173,000 miles still on its original brakes.
I've been really happy with the Nokian Encompass AW01s on my Volt though. They are an all weather 3MP rated tire that's been very good to us
I went with Raybestos Element 3 rotors and pads. I live in New England so plenty of salt. Getting into my 2nd winter on them and they still look new.
I put General Altimax 365AW on my Volt and I love them. They are like winter level tires you can drive all year. They’re quiet and I didn’t notice an impact on the range.
I drove a first gen Chevy Volt before I bought my 2022 MYP. I actually loved the Volt but it didn't have much range. The Chevy Volt had about 37 miles of range and my round trip to work and back was 34 miles. I drove that car on all electric 95% of the time.
I had 2 sets of Goodyears and the edges wear off quick. Continentals been the best.
