I own a 91’ fj80 land cruiser. I have limited options for OEM stuff these days due to the truck being 30+ years old. I’ve got a CSF radiator in mine because having my OE unit re-cored was $1000+ and the csf was ~450. Toyota new stock, unavailable. I use 555 rod ends and sumo brand rebuild kits, koyo bearings. OE suppliers for toyota without the dealer markup. They’re quick to get here and prices are competitive (i got a guy). As long as its pretty competitive and a known brand, i’ll gladly put aftermarket stuff in my toyota as long as it is of good quality. Rock auto has aisin and denso stuff for these trucks regularly. Been putting bosch brake pads on it since i got it, no issues there.

Starter at ~180k miles and steering rack at ~300k, never left me stranded.

I've been daily driving, road-tripping, and wheeling my 100 from 190k miles to its current 283k. Never once has it left me stranded. In that time I've replaced the alternator

I run BFG now but will switch to Yokohama next time just for variety and price. Have had no complaints with the KO2- I just want to try something different.

OEM Tokico shocks are cheaper than anything...

I went with the OEMs on my 99 and it was great.

Pros: great ride

Cons: cheaper than anything

I’ve had Dobinson,bilsteins and now OME and I suggest Toyota OEM. That’ll be your best ride quality on the road by far.

Starting:

Bought a 03 100 series with 241,000 only issue was the number 7 spark plug blew out, had to re-tap it and install a aluminum sleeve, and replace the coil

Pros: basic repairs upgrading

Cons: spark plug blew out

The Nitros ride way too stiff, even with a lift. I installed a full kit with lift on my 200 and it was not a pleasant ride at all. I wish someone would have told me. I was expecting a firm ride, but every bump in the road was jarring.

Recently I put a set of their old man emu shocks on my wife’s 100 series just looking for a quality set of replacements. They looked quality. That being said the ride is abysmal! They are so stiff the car skips sideways when you hit bumps in a corner. It feels like the car is being rattled to pieces. They completely destroyed the very nice ride of the car.

Pros: looked quality

Cons: ride is abysmal, too stiff
