Put 100k miles on my mark iv jetta tdi while using the stuff. No problems.
Best Engine oil for Volkswagen Jetta
Owner's Manual recommends 5W40; but says that any oil that meets the VW 502.00 specification is fine. I've used that Mobil1 European Car Formula 0W40 since our two 2009 Mk5's (Jetta and GLI) were new, with no problems. Specifically zero oil use between changes.
I have never seen my 2017 Jetta low on the dip stick. I usually change it about every 5k miles using Mobil 1.
I ran Mobil 1 20w/50 for 24 years. The guys at NGP use Liqui Moly everything so I switched after reading up on it. I'm REALLY liking Liqui Moly since I switched 3 years ago.
I run this one in our 04 BEW TDI. No issues what so ever!
i use liqui moly 5w30, the european formula. it says made in germany, its the best during winter.
Running Liqui-Moly oil with a zinc additive has been keeping my 150k engine sounding good through 5 track days with 3 years of highway beatings in between.
I use Valvoline XLIII and it works great and not terribly expensive.
Went to the dealer today and got this. 5 QTS CASTROL EDGE PROFESSIONAL 0W20 LONG LIFE IV (RED CAP) 1 VW Oil filter, Volkswagen 04E 115 561 H 1 Drain plug with washer $74.99
Varies too widely, my trans am takes conventional oil and inexpensive filter and is an easy job, while a Porsche 911 requires removal of the oil pan and expensive oil, while my emission cheating Jetta only can use $10/qt special oil. Can be from $40-400.
