Just wanted to follow up for anyone else thinking about running the same headlights that I found a working solution. To reiterate what MarcoCap24 stated, the Helix LED R Style for the Mk6 Jetta ( https://www.urotuning.com/Helix-Projector-Headlights-LED-R-Style-Mk6-Jetta-p/hvwj6hl-l7.htm ) LED UU's will light up as intended with a euroswitch.
Best Headlights for Volkswagen Jetta
I bought and installed them many years ago while I was living in Germany. The lights are in excellent condition with no damage, but the lenses are cloudy from years of use. They have never been sanded, so a 3M kit could be used to clean them up. The auto leveling functioned properly.
Two of these "kits" gets you both highs and both lows. I run them on two mk1's with 90/100w low beams and 100w high beams. Perfect night vision.
The only major difference appears to be the manufacturer of the sets. The ECS ones are made by Hella and the Parts4Euro ones are made by Depo. Go with the Hella.
I have a nice set of mk3 1993-1999 volkswagen jetta smoked e-code headlights. Better light output than factory US headlamps.
Pretty much these depo heads are plug and play just make sure all the wires sit perfect on the heads and you are good to go.! I only needed to run a wire for the fog lights.
I too bought the DEPO headlights but had mine done by a company here in the bay area called Umitzna who replaced the halo rings to Orion Rings which are LED based hence why its so bright. But the lights along with a Euro Light switch and I had to have my car VagCom to shut off DRL! Now when i turn on parking lights both halo rings come on and when i turn the headlights, both rings plus my HID's run.
I currently have on my car a set of depo/helix smoked angel eye headlights. One of the adjusters on the passenger side light has broke. The headlights themselves are in good shape, i would rate them about 7 out of ten. there are some nics in them from the previous owner being a daily driver, that seems to be the only problem minus the broken adjuster mechanism.
The ones I had on my Jetta without fogs were just fine for the price I paid ....
basically, we installed Smoked dual rounds on Dubbstarr21's getta... and well, after getting over the original fitment problems, ran into some major wiring issues(no harnesses/connectors/directions/diagrams provided with lights).. the stock jetta/golf headlight connector had three \"pins\". Ground, low beam, and high beam. The Hella has ground, low, high, and city light. And it seems that the pins on the right/left Hella lights do not match each other. After lots of guessing/testing we came up to this point: thats the low beam position... the high beams are on at maybe 25-30% power, low beams seem to be at 100%.... this is high beam: the highs are on at what seems to be 100%; and the lows at maybe 5%.
