Im running Rotinger HP on my P3 and im impressed by them.
Reviews of spare parts for Volvo V70
Monroe’s tend to be very good OE equivalents. Just put a set on a p2 Volvo v70r and they ride pretty damn good in my opinion.
In the winter im running the newest Nokian Hakkapeliitta's (9 now getting the 10 after the next winter).
Those alternators are damn near bulletproof, it’s the voltage regulators that crap out. If it were me, I’d keep the OEM unit, replace the pulley, and swap out the voltage regulator while I was at it.
5W-30 Valvoline SynPower (full synthetic) and Mahle filter since I picked this car up at 89k in '11. Just cleared 175k last week.

Done every 5k miles by my local Volvo specialist because that's their default and I like it to be checked out frequently. It's the oil they use. 179k miles
I have a 2007 V70 with the 2.5 but went FWD when looking at these cause I figured it would be less of a headache than the AWD models. Had mine for about 16 months, bought at 66k, with 71k on it now, no issues.
I have a set of unknown, but probably OEM pads on the rear brakes on my wagon and they spew dust like crazy, when the fronts wore down I replaced them with akebonos.. no dust, no noise, no issues in 20k miles.
I would think it should. I can see prolonged use of low octane fuel or high boost situations, but occasional accidental use of 87 octane should not grenade the motor. Something must have been wrong with that car or the gas. Knock sensors do work. Hear a ping, back the timing down and cut the boost. This is how my Volvo V70 works.
Steering rack on a Volvo V70 (and I expect most P80/P2 chassis), the rack doubles as an engine mount. So you've got to rock the engine forward to pull the rack out. Then you find out that the refurbished rack had the mount part cut off, and the resulting engine shake is no worse than it was prior to rack replacement, so why was that included in the first place?
