AISIN Timing belt kit

Rating 4.0

Glad you have the Aisin timing belt kit in there, it’s literally OEM parts without “toyota” stamped on them. The gates stuff will be ok but may not last as long as OEM. I would probably do OEM for my GX but those parts are easy to replace, and Gates seems to make decent quality parts. I would recommend replacing the crank seal, definitely do OEM for that.

Pros: OEM quality, decent quality
Cons: may not last as long as OEM
Vehicle: Lexus GX

AISIN Timing belt

Aisin is the one you want. Full stop.

I just did a timing belt / water pump kit on my bugeye. All the components you get with it are exactly what you’d get if you went to the dealership (even down to the little component boxes albeit with a different logo stamped on it), except for maybe the pump itself. Aisin was one of the OE water pump manufacturers, and they have a long history in Japanese car parts and motor sports. The instructions that come with the kit make it super easy, too.

Pros: easy instructions, OE components

AISIN Water pump

The inverter water pump is a fairly common failure on the second gen Prius. The pump runs anytime the car is on, and it just wears out.

Pros: common failure
Cons: wears out
Vehicle: Toyota Prius

I'd definitely want to at least peak at the timing belt for its condition / date stamp. Aisin kit with water pump and OEM Subaru thermostat is what you want.

Use an Aisin TKH-002 kit purchased from an auto parts seller (Rockauto, CarID, parts store) not any sellers on Amazon or Ebay etc. The Aisin kit have Aisin water pump and tensioner, Mitsuboshi belt, and good brand idlers etc.

Pros: Aisin water pump, Mitsuboshi belt
Part number: TKH002

AISIN Timing belt kit

I can't think of a reason not to use AISIN with the price being similar to the others. It was when I purchased 6 months ago and I'm greatly pleased with it.

Pros: greatly pleased

AISIN Timing belt kit

I'm also a fan of the Aisin TKT021 kit. Aisin is the OEM manufacturer of the water pump, and Mitsuboshi is the OEM manufacturer of the actual belt (the belt that comes with the TKT021 kit is a Mitsuboshi).

Pros: fan of kit, OEM quality
Vehicle: Toyota Sequoia
Part number: TKT021

AISIN Water pump

My 1 year, \~6K miles Aisin WPT-108 pump failure story:

I have a 4A-FE Corolla E11. Changed timing belt, auxiliary belts, tensioner+spring, the whole lot last summer. The waterpump (Aisin WPT-108) was from a reputable online shop here in Europe (Autodoc). Last week I come to find the new pump dripping from the lower weep hole, so its the whole timing belt job all over again pretty much. No wierd bearing sounds. I did 6K miles last year if that.

Pros: smooth bearings
Cons: pump failure, dripping
Vehicle: Toyota Corolla
Mileage: 9656 km
Part number: WPT-108
