The AISIN kit is the same water pump and tensioner as the OEM equivalent with out the Honda stamped on it. I personally would still get the OEM timing and Drive belt though.
I’ve changed two water pumps with Aisin brand WP’s from EBay … about 120$ each … and I’ve done fine so far, logged over 100K on them first and then so,d the car. it’s still going strong. the second is going strong in my current car.
I want to share a brief but critical report regarding the recent replacement of the engine's electric water pump (EWP) on my Prius Gen 4. The analysis of the data logs revealed an alarming scenario; the new aftermarket pump's performance was completely unreliable, showing clear evidence of torque failure and instability. I had no choice but to purchase the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) pump from the dealership (it was stamped with the AISIN logo). The problem was instantly and definitively solved.
Get the OEM water pump, I had no luck with aftermarket Aishin. They leaked almost immediately.
I still prefer the Aisin water pumps over the new current Yamada made water pumps. Better fit and finish, fewer leaks/defects (lot of the Yamada pumps are bowed right out of the box), and Aisin breaks the edges whereas the Yamadas are almost cut your hands up levels of sharp
The fel pro gasket set and head bolts + head bolt tool will be close to 300 and then you'll need RTV sealant. Another probably 200 for the Aisin water pump.
Replaced with Asin, failed in 7k miles. The propeller disintegrated on the second one.
Replaced with an Aisin and no complaints
I got this kit and it’s working good, all that matters is the water pump is aisin
