I have installed two Z3 racks, I love it... Bought both used on Ebay from CA from low mileage cars and look fantastic, wouldn't hesitate buying used from a salvage if you know the mileage.

I have a Z3 steering rack and love it. Extremely tight steering.
I picked up and e36 rack (wish I went z3 at the time). Tightens everything up.
For my E30 325i, the biggest performance I gained from cleaning the injectors. When I bought the car I drove it 2000 miles around Europe and noticed sluggish drive in speeds under 100km/h.
Pulled the injectors out and it had what looked like decade full of gunk. Spray pattern non existing. Just weeped fuel through the gunk. Gave them ultrasonic bath and rebuilt them. Car now feels very responsive in city driving and accelerates nicely in highways.
I have changed my valve cover gasket.
I put one in my car and didn't retrofit servotronic and I firmly believe that was the best steering i've ever felt in any car in my life.
Surprisingly, I've never had a problems with Ebay used parts. Got an M3 brake booster for $50. BMW wanted $1000 for it so I bought two just in case one was bad. They were both fine.
have drilled and slotted rotors for it with pads not installed, only problems are it needs the new brakes installed the current ones are warped
BMW valve cover gaskets.
Had to do the repair twice. The second time, the guy told me these parts have a lifetime of only 70k miles because of the heat and also I need to replace a few hoses due to the subsequent oil leaks.
Of course, the clutch rivets wore through the flywheel and pressure plate, requiring a new $1800 flywheel.
