Seems like there would be room in the market for a slightly detuned S55 base model without the fancy seats, brakes and wheels for about $5-8k less like the M3/M4: M3/M4 Competition.

I really love driving it though, particularly the brakes and the handling.
I loved riding the BMW. I don't know what they did or how they did it, but the handling was sublime, using nearly the same suspension components as the SV. I just felt so confident riding it. It had all the power I needed, brakes that saved my arse more than once and was an absolute joy to ride - whether it was to work or to the Netherlands. It sipped fuel (70mpg @ 70mph!), never needed faffing about with the chain and had a bloody decent headlight.
Highly recommend the Z3 rack. Much go kart.
For the exterior my money goes to headlights with accent lights started by BMW and Audi and then copied by every manufacturer out there.
Have yet to find a better street pad than BMW's OE compound. Ceramics dust less but feel terrible.
I've put 6000 miles on my new-to-me N54 135i, BMW PPI said the car was clear. New turbos, waste gates, injectors, coil packs, spark plugs, and valve cover gasket...now it runs great!
The way the brakes begin to grumble during heavy braking is less impressive, but they work well enough.
Had a total failure of the DCT in my 2013 BMW 335is. At about 3500 miles, it left me on the road side.
And jesus christ. $600 for rear pads and rotors? the the parts are like $250 and labor shouldn't be over $200...
