Do not buy shitty eBay “performance” coils for a 1.4 touran. Just go to a motor factors and buy a reputable brand like Bosch.

Bosch WERE awful when first introduced, but lifted their game.
The coils are Bosch and I assume the OEM from factory. I know they car is 18 years old, and I don't mind replacing them, but I'm curious if age, and not just mileage, plays a factor in coils and spark plugs. Manual says change spark plugs at 100k and it seems unusual to me for coils to fail with so few miles on them. I've had several other cars with over 150k miles that never had a failed coil, and one car even had over 250k miles (and about 25 years old). Could there be something causing these coils to fail prematurely? Should I look for a different brand than Bosch?
I chose the cheaper Bosch ignition coil. When I got home, I realized the spring inside was significantly shorter than my old coil's spring. I made no risk of putting this in and brought it back. I learned that Bosch parts used to be made only in Germany and were excellent, but now many are made in the US or China and are poor quality. The one I got was definitely not the German quality.
I had this exact issue and just fixed it with a new ignition coil. I bought a bosch replacement and I haven\u2019t had the issue since.
Make sure when you replace these you use too quality plugs from a reliable parts store, too many stories of bad fakes or lower quality products from online sources. Coils are also likely a good idea at this point, again go with Bosch, again from a reliable source.
I bought a new Bosch coil from TT because the original in my '88 Scirocco 16V didn't have the exact readings the Bentley said it should have. The new coil didn't have the correct readings either according to the Bentley and it didn't make my Scirocco run better.
As per ignition coils, the only ones you should buy for N43/53 engines are Bosch. All the others (Delphi, Febi, HP etc.) are the same Chinese coil sold under different names, same issues as the counterfeit parts.
I'm running Bosch and have been for 45k miles with no issues, even tuned running extra boost which demands more of the ignition coils.
I have Bosch in my 2015 currently with no issues for 30k miles so far
