Contitech Timing belt kit

I placed an order @ FCP Euro for their Contitech timing belt kit, along with a Bosch MAF. I placed my order Monday and got it yesterday. This is my first order with FCP Euro, and I'm very impressed. Will be ordering from them again!

Pros: impressed with service, fast delivery
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta

Contitech Timing belt kit

I used the basic ContiTech kit there when I did my GTI. I also separately sourced a pump with a metal impeller and a Conti accessory belt.

Pros: metal impeller, Conti belt
Vehicle: Volkswagen

If so, I had the same issue with until I did my first belt change at 100k miles. I thought it was the tensioner, but turned out to be the writing on the back of the timing belt as it passed over the tensioner roller. After I did the belt and tensioner and rollers, etc., the swish, swish, swish sound never came back. FYI, went with a Conti-tech belt rather than VW.

Pros: sound never came back
Cons: swishing sound when cold
Mileage: 160934 km

As an alternative to a chain drive, timing belts also markedly reduce CO2 emissions. ContiTech developed the CONTI® OIL RUNNER™, which runs like a chain in oil and holds out for the entire life of an engine.

Pros: reduces CO2 emissions

i just put this kit on my 1.8t and no issues after about 2k miles. From what I hear the contitech stuff is actually better then oem. Im not really impressed with the oem stuff anyway.

Pros: no issues after 2k miles
Cons: not impressed with oem
Mileage: 3218 km

My Audi 20v five potter uses the same tooth profile as the 16v but the t-belt is the 19mm wide flavor. I've never minded ripping that thing up to 7K and feared that the belt would'nt hold up... even withe the 4 extra valves and the waterpump running off that belt!! I'would'nt panic as long as it gets replaced when it's due. Oh and don't get me none of that cheapo stuff either.. gotta be ContiTech or Gates!!! And don't spill oil or grease on any belt!!

Pros: holds up to 7K
Cons: replace when due
Vehicle: Audi

Contitech Timing belt

I already flipped the belt around (now I have two fuzzy sides). I'll try de-tensioning it a little, and I guess if that doesn't work, a new belt and another new tensioner are in order. Might as well go with ContiTech this time around I spose.

Cons: two fuzzy sides

  • Starting:

I changed with new belt but it is also a half tooth. It always lines up with cam cover arrow just at the line at the end of the tooth rather than middle of it at tdc.

Cons: half tooth off
