The cheap filters look great on the outside, on the inside they lack the quality of OEM. Poor quality filters don’t trap as much particulate and it ends up in your engine and your catalytic converter.

I purchased a USA-made Denso Air filter genuine and it was substantially thinner than the Japanese-installed one. Uncomfortable little but it matches my car VIN so hopefully it works fine for unrepetable experience.

I actually bought the OEM Toyota denso. Made in Japan. And just the denso branded one made in china that was $10 less. When comparing the two the filter material and number of pleats was exactly the same. Only difference was the finish was better on the Japan version. Things were cut cleaner. But from what I could tell it made no material impact to the filter capabilities.. so that's what I buy off amazon.

Stock air box with a good OEM or Denso filters worked best. TRD or (K&N) reusable filters doesn't really filter out everything and I noticed my throttle body getting dirty quicker than OEM filters before I replace them.
