I’m on my first Honda (2017 CRV) and had a $1500 oil leak fixed in September and now this coming week have scheduled a $2800 timing chain replacement. Just short of 160k miles.
Replaced timing chains, tensioners, guides and exhaust sprocket a couple months ago:
* Spark advance fluctuated wildly between -18° and 30°
* Before warm, would cut ignition at 3000 RPMs
I got a honda civic 2008 with a 2.2 ctdi engine that has 294000kilometers in it and still has the original timing chain. honda engines of this era at least in the EU are known to LAST, whether its diesel or gasoline…no rattling=you don’t need to change the timing chain.
My 06 2.4 accord is at 285k right now on original chain, like others have said as long as you stay on top of your maintenance you should be fine
I put 251,000 km on my '07 Accord I4/5MT and I was on the factory timing chain (and clutch too).
