My 2017 Kia Soul has 226,500 miles on the body and I have had none of these problems except my alternator died a few months ago but it had 220,000 miles on it.

I am driving a 2012 Kia rio hatchback daily. Over the period I did regular maintenance such as oil changes and some minor fluid changes. Changed tires twice and replaced front suspension parts and break pads once over 13 years of ownership.
We have a Kia Niro PHEV and love it. I get around 3000km per tank because for the most part I'm just not using gas.
I've got a 19 Soul exclaim with the 1.6 turbo and 7 speed DCT transmission. Drives great now but It only has 43k miles on it so I do worry about down the line since I'm out of warranty at this point for any possible drivetrain issues.
The Stinger is notorious for this same problem—I know first hand. Sad part is don’t let Kia touch it because the problem is the brake pad. OE pad material adheres to the rotor.
The only issue I’ve had with this car is the battery, they usually die in about 3years, but they are AGM batteries and they usually die within that Timeframe in Phoenix,AZ Anyway because of the Heat.
I have a Kia Soul that goes through the OEM batteries every two-three years.
Unfortunately it’s proprietary Hyundai/Kia part. It’s now a common problem that if the alternator goes, so does the transmission because the low voltage fries the shift control solenoid. Lots of people complaining about this and yes, it happened to me.
The only issue i have with seltos are the headlights performance, its pretty bad on highways.
Today (September 2025) I heard a something rattling from the rear, then a clunk and then the noise stopped. When we got home I got under to have a look I found that one of two bolts holding the top shock absorber mount was missing & that the other one was loose too.
