I'm going to say the same thing I post every time this comes up. Old Man Emu for shocks, coil springs and leaf springs. I added 3/8" polyurethane spacers above the front coil springs, and removed one leaf of the multileaf rear springs. I couldn't be happier with the resulting 2.5" lift, both on road and off (with swaybar disconnects). It's lift that is designed to operate as a system, and it works well.
I switched out to some medium Old Man Emus on my 2014 Limited after the stock XREAS system started leaking at 120k. Rides great and the slight lift allows me to get onto some steeper trails without worrying about pulling my front bumper off.
Old man emu are the best. Just fit those and thank me later.
Yeah OME’s for a good softer ride in an XJ but best option, best value and more available is Bilstein 5100s. Lots of great reviews of them
I chose the BP-51s for multiple reasons. First off I wanted external reservoir shocks for the cooling advantages, as I love to bomb trails. I also wanted something that was adjustable... I took these on a wash boarded road yesterday and the ride quality was insane.
You can get stock height Old Man Emu shocks that will vastly improve your ride.
