Was doing control arms for my then boss at the time on his Toyota Sienna.
Owner reviews for control arm
Febi's usually have great quality, fitment and durability.
The aluminum lower control arm and knuckle removes about 7 to 8 lbs. of unsprung weight from each corner in the front. It doesn't sound like much but it makes a big difference in how the car feels. The whole front end feels lighter, and weight transfers feel faster from side to side.
He lifted the car up and identified that it was the outer bolt on the control arm. So I will replace the control arm myself on both sides. You only need to buy one part (per side) and the replacement is simple as shown here. If you want to check if you have the same issue, you must lift the car and pull down near the outer bolt on the control arm. Mine moves about a centimetre, meaning the ball inside is exhausted. It should not move at all.
I used Meyle control arms on my B5 A4 and had no issues after replacement.
Lemforder control arms are the best OE/OEM option.
I have a July 2018 Model 3 with 95,000 miles. Had one upper control arm replaced under warranty at 36,000 miles. I had to pay $400 to replace the other one at 53,200 miles.
Last summer, I bought a set of AC Delco control arms for a '72 Mustang. The balljoint on the driver's side arm lasted less than 500 km...
I put Meyle HD lower arms on my Z3 two years ago, and this week I've noticed a slight clunking from the front. I've done around 6k in the last two years so perhaps the quality is deteriorating.
